Week 3 question 2

In the poem "commitments", written by Essex Hemphill, the author speaks of himself by use of imagery writting. Through out the poem we begin to acknolege the character more clearly. He talks about family gatherings and how he dosen't seem to fit in so well. He says how his siblings have children and he dosen't and how they hope someday he will marry. He says how he is the invisible son and really dosen't fit in right. From all this we see that he is alone because he is a homosexual man and will never fit in right since, since everyone else in his family are all straight and married with children. This is shown by the way he talks about the family photos, how everyones arms are holding someone loved and his are always empty.
