week 2 Question 4

Discuss point of view in "I Stand Here Ironing". Do you think the writer is a reliable narrator? Why/why not? Why do you think the narrator shares the "parts" of the story she does but not others?

"I Stand Here Ironing" was written by Tillie Olsen. I don't think the the narrator is a reliable source because she is a single mother of several children , and is narrating how here daughter feels. How is she supposed to know how her daughter feels? The narrator remembers how she raised her two kids and what she could of done for her first time to be different. The narrator is envisioned her surrounding to be a little too perfect, and she never tried to see what she wanted but instead spoke for her.
