Amanda - Week 3; Question 3

With the announcement at the beginning of the poem, “I will always be there” (line 1), the speaker is speaking of the fact that he will always be a part of the family. In line 32 when the speaker says, “I am the invisible son”, he is referring to his lifestyle not meshing with the rest of his family’s, and because of this he has to keep his lovers and his lifestyle separate from his family. He will always be there with his family, yet he is invisible because he is not able to merge his family with his lifestyle.
