Week Two Discussion Question, # 4

Jazmine Navarro

I do think that Olsen is a reliable narrator. She shows what she has gone through in an honest way. She lets us into her feelings and mistakes without trying to sugarcoat things to make it seem like she is the perfect mom. She acknowledges that she could have done things differently to make things better. Of course that does not mean that everything is in the story – the story may be incomplete. Olsen may have left things out because they were not relevant or necessary to mold the story or because she is ashamed of parts of what happened and does not want to recount them. Sometimes people do not want to relieve parts of their life because it is too painful or it never would have made a difference.
